Makayla Blue's children's book series is about a nine-year-old girl, Makayla Johnson, who loves hip-hop music. She loves it so much; she carries around an old pair of headphones her father gifted her to listen to music wherever she goes. After a failed attempt at a dance routine, Makayla discovered that her lucky purple headphones were magical. Her headphones blasted her on an adventure to the future, where she learned she would become the best dancer ever. With the newfound magic, Makayla invites her cousin Jayden and her best friend Imani on journeys that challenges them to believe in themselves.
